How to Drive More Safely at Night

This year, 2017… Daylight Savings falls on November 5th – the day we all set our clocks back an hour, officially welcoming the season of shorter days. For commuters and many other drivers… shorter days translates into more nighttime driving.

Maybe you’re someone that doesn’t enjoy driving at night. Many people also don’t enjoy it…because it’s just a little scarier. A SYLVANIA Automotive survey found that 62 percent of motorists avoid driving after dark. But for many drivers…that’s just not an option. What’s the next best step? Increasing visibility on the road ahead and making yourself more comfortable with night driving can be positively affected by installing high-performance headlights on your car.

Ironically, that same survey found that 34 percent of drivers have never changed out their headlights…despite nearly all of them expressed having difficulty seeing hazards and other drivers while driving after sunset.

Improving a vehicle’s headlights can affect the lives of drivers and their overall experience on the road. Better headlights can help improve down road visibility and increase chances of seeing objects sooner in the event of an accident or hazardous road conditions.

It’s a matter of priority. Many focus on the common auto care maintenance tasks of oil changes, brake pads and tire pressure checks…but somehow vehicle headlight maintenance often gets neglected. Headlights are an active safety item and are the first line of defense on a vehicle; if drivers cannot see objects on the road, they cannot react. If you can see it sooner, you can make a better reaction.

47 percent of surveyed drivers said they would be likely to change their headlights if they knew it would improve the safety of loved ones and other passengers.
